Shadow Systems CR920 Combat vs Elite

04/02/2022

CR920  Combat vs. Elite – What’s the difference?

While building out our pages for the new Shadow Systems CR920s, I couldn’t help but wonder what the difference is between the two versions. All of the data and pics we put on the web pages, we got by searching the Shadow Systems website. While looking at the details in the pictures, I first thought about how helpful that was, but after studying 4 or 5 of them, I couldn’t help but notice how similar they are.

Black, Bronze, Unthreaded variants, capacities are the same, calibers are the same, materials are the same, barrel lengths are the same so WHAT IS DIFFERENT?!?!?

I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I went old school. I picked up the phone and called the manufacturer. Dialed 1 for sales, and spoke to Christian. Super helpful, friendly and nice guy. Spot on brand for Shadow Systems, I must say. Further, he told me the answer. A careful study of the picture reveals the difference.  I can't insert pix into this post, so you will have to go to this link Shadow Systems CR920and scroll about a quarter way down.

Studying the pictures, the Elite has additional directional serrations on the top of the slide, near the front sights. Look on the slide, right above the front of the trigger guard, and you will see that the Elite slides have a window cut on both sides for a little weight reduction. Finally, all Elite models are optics ready, whereas, optic readiness is only an option on the Combat models. I asked about any difference in the internals and the answer was “not all all. All the differences are in the slide.”

There you have it. That’s it. While these differences are found on pages describing other Shadow Systems models, I couldn’t find them listed specifically for the CR920’s.

Now that you know the differences, click here to navigate to the different models.
